Man suffers fractured eye socket following assault in Whitchurch

The 29-year-old was treated in hospital for various injuries including three fractures of an eye socket.

He was assaulted by another man while walking on the path in Bridgewater Street, near the traffic lights and Lidl at around 4.50pm yesterday.

After being punched in the face and chest, he was knocked to the ground and further kicked around the head.

Police Constable Tanya Grey is urging anyone who saw the incident to contact Whitchurch or Shrewsbury police stations by calling 101. The reference number is 0431-s-090114.

She said: “There was a long queue of traffic at the time and a number of people must have witnessed what happened. I appeal to them to get in touch.”
