Police in Telford are appealing for information as they investigate an assault in Wellington.

Police investigate assault in Wellington

The assault occurred in a car park on Tan Bank, Wellington, in the early hours of Friday 27 December 2013.

Sometime between 2.15am and 2.30am, the victim – a 20-year-old man – was waiting for a taxi after leaving a nightclub when he was approached by an unknown man.

Without warning the man punched the victim full in the face causing him to fall to the ground. Having punched the victim, the offender left the scene but it is known which direction he made off in.

A police spokesman said:

“As a result of this incident the victim suffered bruising to the right side of his face and black eye, while there remains the possibility that his nose was fractured by the punch he received.

“He did receive hospital treatment following this assault.

“The offender is described as being white, aged around 20, approximately 5ft 6inches tall and as having short dark hair.

“In addition, he is described as wearing a grey sweatshirt and black jeans.

“Officers investigating this incident believe that a number of people were in the area when it occurred and therefore they are hopeful witnesses may come forward to aid their investigation.

“Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident is asked to call police officers in Telford on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 93S 271213.

“Alternatively, please remember that information can also be pass on anonymously by call the independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
