Comedian Jimmy Carr is to perform an extra show at Oakengates Theatre following high ticket demand for a warm-up gig in which he will test new stand-up material.

Jimmy Carr to perform extra show following high demand

Tickets for Jimmy Carr were expected to sell quickly when they went on sale on Thursday morning but demand was so high that the booking system crashed, meaning ticket sales had to be suspended.

With the first show on Saturday 8 March set to begin at 8pm, the extra show is scheduled for 10.30pm giving Jimmy an extra opportunity to test his material to a wider Telford audience.

Jimmy has always had a popular following in Telford and has previously performed his warm-up material in Oakengates.

Theatre Manager Debbie King said: “We knew that demand would be high to see Jimmy but unfortunately on this occasion that demand meant that our booking system crashed.

“Due to that we suspended sales at 11am in order to sort it out and ease any concerns of customers that had been experiencing difficulty.

“The high demand for tickets means that this second show should come as a welcome addition for customers who may not have managed to get tickets for his early evening show.

“We apologise for any inconvenience of our customers yesterday.”

Any customers who experienced difficulties booking tickets yesterday will be offered priority access to the second performance before those tickets go on general sale on Friday 31 January at 10.00am. These customers will be contacted in the next 48 hours.

Tickets for the 10.30pm show on Saturday 8 March cost £16 each which includes a £1 handling fee.

For any customers with queries about existing ticket bookings, contact the Box Office on 01952 382382 or visit in person.
