A 13-year-old girl was left shaken after being threatened by a man in Oakengates yesterday morning.

Schoolgirl left shaken after being threatened in Oakengates

The unusual incident took place on Station Road in Oakengates at around 8.15am when the girl was waiting by the bus stop opposite Newlands Road.

An unknown man approached the girl and told her to go into the bus stop and when she said no he responded by saying, ‘Now’.

The girl moved into the bus stop and the man then placed his arms on either side of her head – with his hands above her shoulders – and threatened the girl and her family.

The man then spat on the girl’s leg before calmly leaving the scene.

A police spokesman said:

“The 13-year-old girl was left very shaken by this incident but she has been able to describe the man who threatened her.

“He is described as being white, in his 30s or early 40s, between 5ft 8 and 6ft tall and as having big eyes and ‘dirty’ teeth.

“He is also described as wearing a grey and black coloured hooded top and trousers.

“Although the girl did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of this incident police officers are obviously very keen to trace the man involved as it is unusual and rather worrying.

“Anyone who believes they may have information that could aid the investigation into this incident is asked to call police in Telford on 101, quoting incident number 508S 230114.

“Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself.”
