A 17-year-old suffered cuts and bruises to his head during a street robbery in Shrewsbury at the weekend.

Teenager kicked and punched during Shrewsbury street robbery

The victim was walking with a younger boy when he was knocked to the ground by a man who struck him from behind.

His phone was stolen but thrown back as there was no credit. The man then kicked and punched the youth around the head as he lay on the ground.

Police Constable Becky Riley said the incident happened between 7.30pm and 8pm on Saturday as the two boys were walking along Kynaston Road from the recreation ground between Langford Green and Beaufort Green.

She appealed for anyone who might have seen the suspect or any part of the incident to contact Shrewsbury police station on 101.

“I am particularly anxious to speak to a man thought to be in his thirties who stopped to assist the victim.”

The injured youth was treated at hospital.

PC Riley said the assailant was wearing dark clothing and may have had his face covered, possibly with a black balaclava.
