Telford Food Bank seeks trustees
Telford Food Bank which opened in April 2013 is seeking volunteer Trustees for its board after making the decision to become a registered charitable organisation.

The food bank was launched in response to the increasing difficulties that individuals and families were having in being able to fulfil their basic needs of having enough food and basic provisions.
Since opening, the food bank has continued to grow considerably and Telford Crisis Network, a partnership of organisations across the borough working together to help local people, has made the decision to formally register as a charitable organisation to be known as Telford Crisis Support.
The board of Trustees consists of a number of roles including a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, as well as other more specific roles based around skill sets that the new organisation requires.
Telford Crisis Network wants to give local people the opportunity to get involved, and is calling for passionate, motivated people that could offer their skills and time in order to support the work of Telford Crisis Support.
There are many reasons why people may find themselves in the position that they are unable to feed themselves or their families adequately.
This might be due to redundancy, homelessness, illness, benefit delay, domestic violence, debt, family breakdown and the rising cost of fuel, food and other bills.
Telford Food Bank provides emergency food parcels to those in desperate need, with the help of many volunteers already and the generous donations of individuals and businesses across the borough.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services, Employment and Skills, said: “The fact that Telford Food Bank is working towards becoming a charitable organisation shows just how successful the scheme has been since it began almost a year ago.
“It’s important to bring a good mix of people together on the board of trustees who can support and enhance the charitable trust from day one, and I’d urge anyone who thinks they have something to offer Telford Crisis Support to get in touch.
“Obviously the success of the food bank shows just how many people are struggling to make ends meet and fulfil their basic needs, which is why the Council and it’s partners are working on much more than managing those in crisis, and is looking to improve the lives, skills and opportunities of all those in need.”
Trustee recruitment is open until the end of February with informal interviews taking place in early March.
