Hundreds take part in Shrewsbury badger cull protest
Hundreds of people from across the country took part in an anti-badger cull march in Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Local people joined others from as far away as Birmingham, Staffordshire and Somerset to demonstrate against the culling. Some dressed as badgers whilst others waved placards as they all shouted "stop the cull".
Those taking part in the peaceful march gathered in The Quarry close to the main gates just before 1pm. They paraded around the town via Smithfield Road, Castle Castle Street, Dogpole and onto Highstreet before making their way into The Square.
Once gathered they listened to speeches from the Shropshire Badger Group, wildlife campaigner Drew Pratten, Tosca Cabello-Tason from GABS and Dominic Dyer from Care for the Wild.
The Somerset cull came to an end on November 1, with just 65 per cent of the total number of badgers being shot, even after a revision of figures by ministers – the target was 70 per cent. The pilot in Gloucestershire was granted an eight-week extension in October after also failing to meet its target by an even greater margin, with just 30 per cent of the population there being killed by marksmen.
The Government said the cull were necessary as part of efforts to stop increasing outbreaks of TB in dairy and beef herds, which saw 28,000 cattle slaughtered in England during 2012.
