Lorry driver cut free from cab crushed by tree near Atcham
A lorry driver was cut free from his cab this evening after it was crushed by a tree nearing village of Atcham.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the bridge close to Tern Lodge near the village of Atcham.
On arrival Firefighters were faced with a large lorry that was in a precarious position near to the parapet of the bridge.
Firefighters quickly got to work stabilising the vehicle to prevent the wind blowing it off the bridge and into flood water. This involved using support struts and also cutting the curtain sides of the lorry to create a through flow of air to limit the effects of the wind. The Hiab from the Rescue Tender was also used to stablise the vehicle. At this stage a rescue boat from Shrewsbury was also mobilsed for safety reasons.
The casualty was being treated by paramedics whilst firefighters attempted to release him from the lorry cab that was completely crushed using Holmatro cutting equipment and a special platform for working at heights.
After two hours Firefighters managed to rescue him through the rear of the cab and through the back of the lorry.
The man was treated for a broken arm and a laceration to his head before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment.
