The 32-year-old man was set upon in Newfield Drive, Trench at around 8.30pm on Sunday, 2 February.

He was knocked to the ground and repeatedly struck and kicked, suffering cuts and bruising which were treated at the Princess Royal Hospital.

Police Constable Emma Goodall, the investigating officer, said a number of people were in the area at the time and would have seen the incident:

“I appeal to them to please contact Malinsgate police station by calling 101. This was a serious incident and it’s important witnesses come forward.”

She said the victim initially had an altercation with one of the men which turned into a scuffle. Three further men then arrived and all four assaulted the victim.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and given police bail with conditions while inquiries continue.
