Police are trying to trace a man who they believe may be able to help with an investigation into a sexual assault on a woman travelling between Telford and Shrewsbury by bus.

Police seek man as part of sexual assault investigation

The man was a passenger on the bus and may have information to assist police inquiries into the incident, which happened on 13 November last year.

Police Constable Jennifer Hitchings, the investigating officer, said the offence happened at about 1.15pm during a bus journey from Telford bus station to Shrewsbury bus station.

The 22-year-old victim was sat in the centre of the rear seat when a man sat to the right of the back seat, leaned across and touched her in an indecent manner.

PC Hitchings said she challenged the man, who made no comment, and she moved to another seat at the front of the bus. She was not hurt.

“The CCTV images are of a passenger on the bus at the time who may have information which could help the investigation,” she added.

“I would like him to make contact by calling Shrewsbury police station on 101. I am also appealing to anyone who can identify him, to also get in touch.”

It’s thought he got on the bus at Telford bus station and travelled the full distance to Shrewsbury bus station. He is aged about 50, has short white hair and was wearing a distinctive fluorescent work suit.

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111, or by visiting its website www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
