Clean-up operation begins as strong winds hit Shropshire

Near Shrewsbury a lorry driver had to be cut free from his cab in a two hour operation after it was crushed by a falling tree in Atcham.
The metal roof of Severndale School was also damaged gusts of wind picked up the corrugated sheets and lifted them into the air along with insulation. The school was evacuated and is set to remain closed until after half-term. The Wilfred Owen school which is also located at the site is due to re-open on Friday.
Motorists across the county were forced to take diversions as trees blocked roads.
