Police today made an urgent appeal for the public’s help to find a man who has gone missing in Shrewsbury.

Search launched for missing 28-year-old Robert Bartlett

Robert Bartlett, aged 28, lives in London but had been visiting family in the Welshpool area in Powys in recent days. He was last seen at a relative’s house in Middletown late on Monday night before he drove to Shrewsbury. His car was found yesterday afternoon in the Victoria Quay area of the town.

Inspector Phil Shakesheff, who is leading the search, said: “We are very concerned about Robert’s welfare and his state of mind. We have been putting all the resources we can into finding Robert, including having the police helicopter up over Shrewsbury yesterday.

“We are appealing for anyone who has seen him in the last 24 hours to contact West Mercia Police immediately. He may simply be staying locally, perhaps with friends we aren’t aware of, so I would ask anyone who knows of his whereabouts to get in touch. This includes Robert himself and if he hears our appeals I ask him to get in touch with either us or his family, who are very worried about him.”

West Mercia Police can be contacted on the non-emergency police number, 101, or information can be passed on anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the reference number 141s 18/02/14.
