Police are investigating an assault in Trench which involved two men occurred on Sunday.

Man stabbed with implement during assault in Trench

Just prior to 4pm, as the victim – a 26-year-old man – made his way along on Lennock Road on his bicycle, a man he rode past started shouting at him and goading him.

The victim got off his bike and approached the man and an argument broke out. The verbal altercation between the two men quickly threatened to become physical.

However, before a fight broke out, the man who had shouted the abuse pulled an implement of some sort out of his pocket and stabbed at the victim with it.

The implement caused a slight puncture wound to the victim’s right side and although the man tried to encourage the victim to fight him, the victim immediately left the scene on his bike.

Thankfully the stab wound was only superficial and although the victim has visited a doctor as a precaution, the injury does not require any lengthy medical treatment.

Police officers investigating the incident are keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have information about it, especially anyone who believes they may have seen the two men arguing on Lennock Road between 3.50pm and 4pm on Sunday.

Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident is asked to call police in Telford on 101, quoting incident number 460S 230214.

Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself.
