Cyclist airlifted to hospital after crash near Ellesmere
A cyclist was airlifted to hospital following a collision involving a car near Ellesmere on Sunday.

The cyclist, who was reportedly thrown three metres into the air upon impact with the Ford Ka, received emergency treatment by ambulance crews before being taken to a major trauma centre by the Midlands Air Ambulance.
The collision happened on the A495 Ellesmere to Oswestry road at 10.45am close to The Brow Golf Club.
It’s thought the car was heading west along the A495 intending to turn right into an unclassified lane. The cyclist was travelling in the opposite direction towards Ellesmere.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The woman, who had initially been knocked unconscious, was being cared for by a first aider when crews arrived.
“Upon assessment, ambulance crews and the medic found she had sustained a nasty cut to her head and a dislocated thumb. The woman’s head wound was dressed to stem the bleeding and a splint was applied to immobilise her thumb.
“Due to the mechanism of the crash and suspicion of a more serious head injury, she was immobilised as a precaution before being airlifted to University Hospital North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment.
“The driver of the car was assessed but did not require hospital treatment.”
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today: “Anyone who saw the collision or the circumstances leading up to it, is asked to please contact Oswestry police station by calling 101.”
