Police in Telford have today released a photo of a man they wish to trace in connection with an assault that occurred in Trench just over a week ago.

Police name witness sought in connection with Trench assault

The incident involving two men occurred on Lennock Road on Sunday 23 February.

Just prior to 4pm, as the victim – a 26-year-old man – made his way to work on his bicycle, a man he rode past started shouting at him and goading him.

The victim got off his bike and approached the man and an argument broke out. The verbal altercation between the two men became physical.

Some time during the altercation the victim suffered a puncture wound in his right side which appears to have been caused by an implement of some sort.

Thankfully the stab wound was only superficial and although the victim has visited a doctor as a precaution, the injury does not require any lengthy medical treatment.

Detective Inspector Billy Scott said:

“We have today released a photo of 20-year-old Luke Mansell – who is originally from Donnington, as we are keen to speak to him about this assault.

“We believe he could be a crucial witness to what occurred on Lennock Road that Sunday afternoon and therefore would like to trace him as soon as is possible.

“Mr Mansell knows we are looking for him but as of yet we have been able to find him despite visiting a number of addresses in the past week.

“We would encourage anyone who believes they knows where Mr Mansell is, or who has information about the incident, to call police in Telford on 101, quoting incident number 460S 230214.

“Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you’d rather leave information without identifying yourself.”
