A teenage boy was this afternoon rescued from the River Severn in Ironbridge after getting into trouble whilst boating.

Firefighters from Tweedale, Wellington, and the water rescue unit from Shrewsbury plus an operational Officer attended the scene along with an ambulance crew and police.

The teenager was rescued from the river by water first responders who threw a line to pull him into the river bank at around 5.30pm.

He was checked over by waiting paramedics.

It is understood the boy had lost his oars whilst rowing and was being carried along by the flow of water.
