Jackknifed lorry closes A41 at Albrighton
The A41 at Albrighton was closed this morning after a lorry jackknifed.
No other vehicle was directly involved in the incident which happened shortly before 9am.
But police say another vehicle may have pulled out in front of the lorry, causing its driver to take evasive action.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The lorry driver, a man in his thirties, experiencing tenderness to his back.
“He was immobilised onto a spinal board and was freed from his cab with the help of the fire service who also attended the scene. He was taken to Princess Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
Police investigating the collision have appealed for witnesses.
Police Constable Richard Jones, the investigating officer, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened to please contact Malinsgate police station in Telford by calling 101.
“The lorry has been travelling along the A41 northbound towards the M54 when a white transit drop-side has pulled out of Station Road in front of it, causing the driver to take evasive action.
“This caused the lorry to skid and jack-knife and then hit a small tree on the verge of the southbound carriageway.”
