Concern is growing for a missing Shrewsbury woman and police have issued an urgent appeal for information.

A search has been launched for 39-year-old Carolyne Stevenson-Jones who yesterday failed to return to her home in Harmer Hill.

She was last seen in Shrewsbury at around 11.30am yesterday.

Inspector Phil Shakesheff said today: “We are anxious to trace Carolyne as a matter of urgency and are appealing for any information which might help.

“Indeed, we would ask Carolyne herself to make contact if she is aware of the police search. The number to call is Shrewsbury police station on 101.

“If anyone has seen her or has been in contact, do please notify us without delay.”

Inspector Shakesheff said both the police and Carolyne’s family were becoming increasingly concerned.

“As time goes on without any news, our concern for her welfare mounts. We are very anxious to establish she is safe and well.”

Carolyne is described as being 5ft 4ins tall with straight black hair. She is thought to be wearing black tights under a tunic and a coat.

She is thought to have been on foot and may have used public transport.
