A teenage boy has been assaulted before having his scrambler motorcycle stolen in Telford.

Teenager assaulted during theft of motorcycle in Telford

The 15-year-old victim was punched to the head and knocked to the ground where he was repeatedly kicked before the suspect made off with his Kawasaki KX 100 motorcyle.

The robbery happened on the Silken Way by Stirchley/Hinkshay Pools, Hinkshay Road, Dawley at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

Police are appealing for information about the identity of the offender and also the whereabouts of the distinctive green and red scrambler.

Detective Constable Craig Smith, the investigating officer, said: “The victim was walking with a friend pushing the motorcycle because it had broken down. He was approached by the offender who assaulted him before taking the machine, pushing it along Silkin Way towards Hinkshay Road.

“The teenager did not require medical attention but had a number of superficial injuries and was left very upset over the incident and the theft of his motorcycle, which he described as his pride and joy.”

DC Smith added: “I am appealing for any information which might assist in identifying the suspect and tracing the motorcycle. Contact Telford CID at Malinsgate police station on 101.”

The offender is described as white, about 18 to 20 years old, six feet tall and of lanky build. He was wearing a black tracksuit with a hood pulled over his head and a black and white bandana with a zig zag pattern over his face.

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111, or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
