The Big Busk brings music to the streets of Shrewsbury
Over 60 artists will be performing across Shrewsbury town centre today for the Big Busk.

Live music will be performed throughout the day in various locations around the town including Pride Hill, the town’s shopping centres, the Market Hall, coffee shops and the library.
As the sun goes down artists will move into bars, pubs, restaurants, and even an old church during a full evening’s musical entertainment.
Musical acts will range from traditional and classical to modern music and dance.
The event was started last year by the family and friends of Ben Bebbington who died in September 2012, the event aims to raise awareness and funds for the Shrewsbury Ark, a charity that had supported Mr Bebbington in his later years and meant a great deal to him.
Ben’s sister Anne-Marie said: “Despite the tragic circumstances of Ben’s death, we all enjoyed the Big Busk last year and I am sure Ben would have been immensely proud to hear so much music in his memory, he was a very talented musician himself.”
Anne-Marie also said about the event: “We had a few surprises for people shopping in the town last year and we are hoping to create more special moments this time too!”
Clive Beasley owner of Music Bros in Roushill said: “Last year the Big Busk created a brilliant atmosphere around the town and many of my customers have commented how much they enjoyed it, I think most of them are taking part! It is a genuine pleasure to support the event.”
All funds from the event will go to Shrewsbury Ark, a day centre for homeless and vulnerable adults. Last year the event raised £3,350 which went towards the £85,000 it costs to run the Ark each year.
