Poundworld set to create 30 jobs in Shrewsbury town centre
Poundworld is to create 30 jobs in Shrewsbury when it opens a new town centre store next month.

The retailer is opening in the former HMV unit in the Pride Hill Shopping Centre on Thursday 1 May.
Family-run Poundworld which was recently the subject of popular BBC1 documentary ‘Pound Shop Wars’, Shrewsbury will be its 244th store in the chain.
New Poundworld manager Gareth Benton said: “We’re excited to be opening our first store in Shrewsbury town at the Pride Hill Shopping Centre and it’s great to be able to create 30 new retail jobs for the town.
“With over 5,000 products, savvy shoppers can take advantage of consistently great deals to drive down the cost of their weekly shop.
“Our store has a massive range and is in a great location so we’re confident that we can tempt people away from Poundland with our fantastic bargains.”
Kevin Lockwood, Manager of the Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside Shopping Centres, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Poundworld to the Shrewsbury Shopping Centres as they will add another element to the retail offer here.
“Poundworld are major players on the UK high street and this is an important opening for Shrewsbury, bringing very welcome jobs to the area and boosting the local economy.
“They join several other major names among our recent arrivals with Blue Inc, Grape Tree, The Entertainer and Hotter Shoes among the most recent major arrivals as well as a host of independent stores which we have encouraged in recent months.
“The opening of independents like Flutterbies, Golden Guitars, Cherry’s, Chikpe, Alleyna’s, Credible Accessories, Funky Fashions and Vapes as well as two tailors, M and M Tailoring and Shrewsbury Top Tailoring have also added to the mix here.”
