Police are trying to trace a car stolen in a Telford robbery by two men who threatened the occupants with what appeared to be a handgun.

Armed men steal car and threaten its occupants in Wellington

The incident happened at around 10.15pm last night in The Parade, Wellington.

Two men were sat in a black VW Golf parked in the taxi bay at the bus station when the vehicle was approached by two strangers who opened the driver’s door.

Detective Inspector Billy Scott said: “One of the offenders threatened the driver and showed what appeared to be the handle of a handgun. A knife was also displayed.

“The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and as the offender grabbed the ignition keys, the driver and his passenger managed to run off towards the town centre.”

He said the two offenders drove away in the Golf in the direction of Victoria Road.
DI Scott said: “I am anxious to trace this vehicle which is worth about £10,000 and appealing for any information concerning its current whereabouts.

“Contact Malinsgate police station in Telford and ask for CID. Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 or via its website, www.crimestoppers-uk.org .

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area of The Parade at around 10.15pm last night who might have seen this incident or the two suspects approaching the Golf car.”

One suspect is described as Asian, aged around 28 to 30, with facial stubble and of large build. He was wearing a black knitted hoody top and black tracksuit bottoms. His accomplice was tall and of skinny build, wearing a dark coloured plain tracksuit with a hood.
