Police in Telford are investigating after two incidents within a mile of each other that occurred last night.

Police investigate Wrockwardine Wood and Donnington incidents

The first incident occurred on St Matthews Road in Donnington, opposite the primary school, on Sunday 27 April.

At around 9.20pm, the victim – an 18-year-old man – was walking along the path that runs parallel with the perimeter fence around the school when an unknown man stepped in front of him and demanded his phone.

The victim refused to hand over his phone, pushed the unknown man in the chest and then fled the scene on foot.

The man who demanded the victim’s phone is described as being white, around 5ft 11 inches tall, with a thin build and as wearing a black hooded top with the hood up. He also had a scarf covering his face.

The second incident occurred around 40 minutes later in Wrockwardine Wood.

At around 10pm, a 19-year-old man – the victim - was walking along Moss Road listening to music on headphones when an unknown man ran past him. The man stopped and asked the victim the time.

When the victim got his phone out to look at the time the man suddenly grabbed the phone and then punched the victim in the face. The victim fell to the floor as a result of the punch and let go of his phone. At this point the unknown man fled the scene with the phone in the direction of Trench.

The man who stole the victim’s phone is described as being white, aged in his early 20s, as being between 5ft 10inches and 6ft tall and as having a medium build. He is also described as wearing a dark hooded top with a red stripes on the arms and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

Police are very keen to hear from anyone who may have information about these two incidents and are looking at the possibility that the same man is involved in both offences.

Anyone who believes they may have information about either of these incidents is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 673S 270414 or 693S 270414.
