Adcote School for Girls will today begin a new chapter in its history with a formal turf-cutting ceremony for a brand new international boarding house.

The state-of-the-art International boarding house will be a first of a number of buildings to be built, with further investment in a new sports hall, as well as additional boarding houses and facilities over the next few years. The Boarding house will include 2 floors, 46 en suite double rooms, a relaxing common room area and a dedicated Internet connection.

The multi-million pound investment programme over the next few years is coupled with investment in an international admissions office in Birmingham and also in Beijing, China.

“This new development is part of our ambitious plans for new capital projects which will further improve the educational experience that the school provides. The school’s boarding facilities will increase by one hundred and eighty beds, providing state-of-the art single and twin en-suite rooms, and living areas supported with full Wi-Fi. The new buildings on the campus will also include a sports hall and additional teaching and catering space. A very exciting time for the school.”, commented Gary Wright, Headmaster, Adcote School.

In attendance to mark this formal occasion, will be the Mayor of Shrewsbury - Councillor Jon Tandy, MP for Shrewsbury & Atcham - Daniel Kawczynski.

The expected completion date for the first boarding house and sports hall is September 2014.
