A man was rescued by firefighters in Shrewsbury last night after falling 25ft and becoming trapped in a void between two buildings.

Man injured after falling 25ft and becoming trapped in Shrewsbury

The 18-year-old was trying to gain entry to the flat he shares with his father after becoming locked out just after 7.30pm.

He was attempting to climb a wall and enter the property through a window when his foot slipped and he fell.

A neighbour raised the alarm with five fire appliances arriving at the scene along with an ambulance crew just minutes later.

The incident occurred close to Shrewsbury railway station which saw the forecourt sealed off whilst firefighters used an aerial ladder platform.

The casualty was conveyed to hospital via ambulance suffering from a slipped disc and broken foot.
