Shrewsbury water bomb incident youths traced
Police have traced the youths who struck a Shrewsbury pensioner with a “water bomb” as they drove by and then stopped to laugh at their victim.

They were identified after the investigating officer issued an appeal for witnesses.
The 76-year-old man was walking home along New Park Road, Castlefields late at night when the youths drove past, throwing a water balloon which struck him in the stomach.
PC Leanne Rhoden said today: “The gentleman had a walking stick and was making his way home at the time in the dark. He was winded by the impact, causing him to double up and being on the point of collapse when helped by a passer-by.
“Although not injured, he was extremely shocked and distressed.”
She said the culprits were tracked down following an anonymous call from someone who spotted the appeal for information.
“All of the lads have been spoken to by me and given a warning regarding their behaviour.
“They have shown remorse and said they didn’t realise how old the man was, nor did they see his walking stick. I’ve said this doesn’t condone their actions and they now realise the seriousness of the matter.”
PC Rhoden added: “They have written a letter of apology to the victim who has said he does not want them arrested. I’d like to thank everyone who responded to the appeal for information.”
