Police in Shrewsbury are linking two burglaries after an intruder was disturbed and made off empty-handed from two homes.

Police link two Shrewsbury house burglaries

They believe the same man was responsible for breaking into homes in Belvidere Avenue and Sutton Lane overnight on Friday.

Detective Constable Steve Davies, the investigating officer, said: “Fortunately, the burglar was disturbed in both cases and nothing was stolen although more than £700 damage was caused.

“I am appealing for any information which might help the investigation. In particular, I would like to hear from anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in Belvidere Avenue or Sutton Lane on Friday night. Contact Shrewsbury CID on 101.”

He said that between 9.45pm on Friday and 7am Saturday, entry was gained to the property in Belvidere Avenue through an insecure conservatory window. It’s thought the occupier’s dogs frightened off the intruder before anything was stolen.

At the Sutton Lane address, a window was forced at around 9.50pm. The resident was disturbed by the noise and discovered a man in the living room who again fled empty-handed.

He was described as white, of slim build, probably in his mid twenties with short dark hair.

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
