Much Wenlock sewer works may overrun

Essential sewer works being carried out by Severn Trent Water on a busy Much Wenlock road may overrun into tomorrow Shropshire Council said today.

The works which saw the A4169, Sheinton Street close to traffic on Tuesday was completed on time, however it is looking unlikely that the road will reopen today as planned.

Drivers are being warned to prepare for travel disruption on Monday and follow the diversion signs in place.

A Shropshire Council spokesperson said: “We will continue to monitor the situation closely throughout the day and keep you updated should the situation change.

“We aim to reopen the road on Monday afternoon and apologise for any inconvenience caused.“

The works were timed to take place during the half-tern holidays so not to affect the school run and the busy programme of events in the town during the summer.

Full access to frontages will remain for residents of Sheinton Street.

Update: Work is now set to be completed by 6am on Monday 2 June.
