Ludlow licensee admits selling alcohol to 16-year-old boy
The licensee of a Ludlow pub has appeared in court charged with selling alcohol to a juvenile.
Deborah Richard, 47, of the Bull Hotel in the Bull Ring, admitted selling alcohol to a person under 18, a 16-year-old boy, on 8 March this year.
She appeared before Shrewsbury magistrates on Tuesday 17 June and given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay a total of £100 in costs and victim surcharge.
A second charge of knowingly selling alcohol to a drunk person on the same date was dismissed after no evidence was offered by the prosecution.
The court heard that the police Safer Neighbourhood Team in Ludlow was conducting licensed premises checks in the town when they found a 16-year-old boy in the bar of the Bull Hotel with an alcoholic drink. He had been served with a pint of lager.
Sergeant Adrian Woolley said the same boy had previously been found by Police Community Support Officer Jamie Guest in the Bull Hotel on November 16 last year when Deborah Richards was spoken to.
On March 8, the youth was found at the premises again by PCSO Guest, PCSO Lisa Thomas and Acting Special Inspector Charles Pearson.
Sergeant Woolley added: “The Safer Neighbourhood Team is continuing with licensed premises checks to ensure compliance with the law and licence conditions.
“We are working together with the community, Shropshire Council Public Protection Team and partner agencies to continue to keep Ludlow a safe and low-level crime place to enjoy. I would like to thank Ludlow’s community for its continued support.”
