The man was found by a tractor driver at 5am this morning between Bayston Hill and Church Stretton.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but the deceased is thought to be a 61-year-old man from Bayston Hill.

It is believed the cyclist may have been involved in a collision with another vehicle that failed to stop following the incident.

West Mercia Police are urging this driver to get in contact.

Anybody with any further information is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting the incident number 063s of the 23rd June. If you want to give information without giving your name you can also call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

The A49 was closed in both directions between Dobbies roundabout and Sandford Avenue in Church Stretton for much of the day but re-opened this afternoon.
