Thieves have broken into a home in Newport and stolen the owner’s car keys before making off with a high value BMW.

Thieves steal high value BMW from Newport driveway

The burglary took place sometime between 1.30am and 7.30am on Tuesday 24 June 2014 while the owner was asleep. He woke to find his black BMW M3, valued at £25,000, missing from the driveway.

Police in Shropshire are appealing for witnesses to come forward who saw any suspicious behaviour in the Deer Park Drive and Coppice Drive area of Newport in the early hours of Tuesday 24 June.

Detective Constable Terry Homer said: “We want to hear from anyone who can help us trace the car and track down those responsible for stealing it.

“Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in that part of Newport or saw the car, registration number YK08LWF, is urged to contact us immediately.”

DC Homer added: “I cannot emphasis enough the importance of car owners storing their car keys securely where they cannot be easily accessed. Anything owners can do to make it more difficult for car thieves will help to protect their property.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Homer by calling the non emergency number 101 and quoting incident number 092s 240614.

Alternatively information can be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or completing its online form by logging on to www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
