Police investigate distraction burglaries reported in Telford

The latest incident took place on Crescent Road in Hadley between 1.45pm and 3.00pm on Wednesday 25 June.

A woman is reported to have entered the victim’s property asking for change for a £1 coin. The victim then took out her purse and after counting some change handed it to the offender.

The victim later realised that a wallet and £300 in cash had gone missing.

The woman was described as Asian in appearance with a round face and ‘plump’ figure. She had a gold tooth and was wearing an orange and green headscarf, white cardigan and green trousers. She is approximately 5’ 3” tall and around 20-years-old.

DC Terry Homer said: "We believe that this is not an isolated incident and are asking residents to be cautious after similar reports in recent weeks. We urge anyone who may have seen this woman or any suspicious behaviour to get in contact."

If you have any information about this incident please contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting the incident reference 364s of the 25th June.

Police are also appealing for witnesses for a similar incident which took place on the 18 June in Hampton Close in Newport.

If you want to give information without giving your name you can also call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Police would like to remind residents to check nobody is behind you before opening your front door. If you have any concerns about people visiting your home, contact the police.
