Shrewsbury Food Festival enjoys successful second year
Good weather and great food saw over 20,000 people head to the Quarry Park for the second Shrewsbury Food Festival at the weekend.

Visitors were able to sample and buy from the region’s best food and drink producers. Producers attending included Coopers Sausage Rolls, Empire Cupcakes, Gourmet Spice Co, Ludlow Brewing Company and Battlefield 1403 Farm Shop as well as many other well-known names.
There was also a seriously tempting range of hot food on offer.
Those attending also got the chance to learn cookery skills at celebrity chef Marcus Bean’s free Pop Up Cookery School, in association with FBC Manby Bowdler.
The Wenlock Spring Chef Demonstration stage saw talks and demonstrations from well known local chefs including Dr Lal Haider, Chris Conde, Robert Swift, Chris Burt and Marcus Bean.
As well as great food there was plenty of entertainment including local bands on The Buttermarket stage. Those enjoying the music heard an eclectic line-up with singer/songwriters, reggae, rock and roots.
The Market Hall Shrewsbury Fringe Festival also proved popular with live cooking demonstrations in support of the Shrewsbury Food Festival. Chefs taking to the Urban Bikes Stage, in the middle of the indoor market, included James Sherwin, Julia Wenlock, Chris Conde, Dr Lal Haider, Michel Nijsten, Vic Rowland and Paul Maders, head chef at The Inn at Grinshill.
