Malinslee Playing Fields gets Fields In Trust status
Malinslee Playing Fields has become two Queen Elizabeth II Fields In Trust designated Playing Fields.

The Playing Fields will now be known as the St Leonard’s playing field (south side of playing field) and Prince George’s playing field (north side of playing field) - in honour of the new Prince whose first birthday was last week.
The names for the fields were chosen by the local community
The designation of the playing fields has been made by ‘Fields In Trust’ which has designated over 1500 sites across the country to protect them.
Playing fields are an important community resource and are crucial to promoting individual and community well-being and ensuring the future of outdoor spaces across the area
Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services and ward member for Malinslee, said “Our Playing Fields are hugely important to our community and we are delighted that these are protected as Queen Elizabeth II Fields.
“Protecting the local sports pitches gives sports clubs and individuals the space to develop sporting talent.
“The Fields in Trust programme is one of legacy and celebration and we’re looking forward to getting our community together to celebrate in a big way!”
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Councillor Kuldip Sahota, also ward member for Malinslee, said: “I think its fabulous that these playing fields are now protected in perpetuity and will be enjoyed by generations to come.”
Saturday 26 July (12-3pm) will see the launch of the newly named fields with a variety of free community activities which are part of Malinslee Urban Day.
Activities include a professional BMX stunt team (Skills On Wheels), a huge variety of inflatables, Rodeo Bull, BMX coaching / racing by Wrekin Riders, a climbing wall, demonstrations by Telford Amateur Radio Society and performances by Dawley Musical Theatre Group and Hashtag among others.
