Oswestry Show set to attract thousands today
Over 15,000 people are expected at Oswestry Show taking place on the 37 acre Park Hall Showground today.

A packed programme of events is scheduled for the main ring with the return of the Imps Motorcycle Display Team, a young team of riders ranging from five to sixteen who will put on their performance of daredevil jumps and routines. Neptune Collonges, winner of the 2012 Grand National, will lead the new class “Racehorse to Riding Horse” exhibitors into the ring to be judged. Returning again this year, a firm favourite with the crowd is the Tanatside Hunt, who will circuit the arena and then invite the youngsters into the ring to meet the hounds.
A Mounted Games competition will take place at 2.15 pm and 4.45 pm.
The Village Green, sponsored by DRE & Co, Chartered Accountants, will again be buzzing with activities and entertainment for all ages. Border Counties School of Gymnastics and Hoola Nation will also showcase their work along with Megafit, Insanity, M D Warriors and Sheridan the robotic dog. The New Saints Football Club and its Community Foundation are making their first appearance on the Village Green.

Another busy part of the Show is the Sheep Shearing area organized by Steve Butler. This began six years ago and for the first time will be a qualifier for the 2014 Welsh Lamb Shearing Circuit. Competitors from around the local area will shear against one another to get the fleece off tidily and in record time.

This year’s theme for the Floral Art Competition is “British History”, with a class entitled “Commemorating the Great War” in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
Take a step back in time and amble around Montgomeryshire’s Vintage Tractor and Farm Machinery display leading on to the Vintage Classic Car and Motorcycle vehicles, their highlight of the day is a parade in the main ring at approximately 1.00 pm.
