Homebuilder Redrow is to contribute more than £480,000 towards local education as part of plans to build 203 homes on land off Okehampton Road in Leegomery.

Known as The Coppice, the soon to launch development will bring significant investment to the area.

Darren Turk, managing director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), explains: “We’ve had great success with our existing Trenchwood Gardens development in Telford and are now looking forward to launching The Coppice on August 16 and providing homebuyers with even more choice.

“Ensuring our developments are sustainable is important to us and we will be making significant contributions to the local community. This will include investing £3.5 million to provide 51 homes affordable homes for local needs. We will also be making a contribution of more than £480,000 towards education and funding £73,000 of improvements to the Leegomery roundabout. This investment will benefit those who already live in the neighbourhood as well as the people who buy our new homes.”

The Coppice will offer 152 homes for private sale compromising a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties.

An existing woodland at the corner of the site will be retained and Redrow will be creating balancing ponds and swales to preserve and enhance the ecology of the area.

Public open space will include an equipped play area and a multi-use games area.

“The development will also have a positive impact on the local economy with industry statistics showing that 1.5 full time jobs are created for every home built - and that’s not including jobs in the supply chain,” Darren adds.

The new homes at The Coppice will be ideal for buyers with children as the area is well served by schools; while nearby Hadley is home to two supermarkets, where homeowners can stock up on groceries.

Homes at The Coppice are due to go on sale on August 16 with showhomes expected to open in October.
