Organisers of the area’s largest brass band festival have handed over more than £2000 to Severn Hospice Telford.

Brass Festival organisers hand over £2000 to Severn Hospice

Neil Fury, chairman of the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival, and mezzo soprano, Helen May, presented a cheque to Sarah Maythorne from Severn Hospice at the weekend.

The money was raised through ticket sales, programmes, donations and raffle tickets sold at the Saturday evening Gala Concert that has been the festival’s showpiece since the event first started in 2004.

Neil Fury said: “Once again we are delighted to be supporting The Severn Hospice, our adopted Charity, and we hope that this money from our Gala Concert will go some way towards helping those people requiring the superb care provided by the organisation.

“We are already working towards next year's Brass Band Festival and Concert which will be held at the Museum of Iron, Coalbrookdale, on the 11th and 12th of July 2015. The event itself will once again be free and open to everyone, with tickets being sold for the charity gala concert on the 11th in aid of Severn Hospice.”
