West Mercia Police are appealing for information after a man attempted to rob a woman of her bag in the Madeley area of Telford.

Appeal for witnesses after attempted robbery in Madeley

The incident took place on Madeley High Street on Tuesday 29 July at approximately 5.40pm.

The 59-year-old woman was approached from behind and pushed by an unknown individual who tried to take her hand bag. Nothing was stolen in the incident and he ran away in the direction of the High Street.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to possible witnesses on the number 11 bus which drove by at the time of the incident.

PC Katie Morgan of Telford and Wrekin CID said: "This was an awful offence against a vulnerable woman. We are eager to speak to anyone who may have been on the number 11 bus travelling down Madeley High Street at the time of the incident. If you were in the area at the time you may hold vital information which can assist our investigations and help to apprehend the offender."

If you have any information please contact police on the non-emergency police number on 101 and quote the incident reference 632s of the 29 July.

If you want to give information without giving your name you can also call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org
