T-Live to support three worthwhile causes
Telford & Wrekin Council’s T-Live music festival this weekend will support three charities - as the council again uses the event to raise cash for good causes.

The main charity that will be supported over the course of the two days of the show at Telford Town Park QEII Fields In Trust Arena will be the Teenage Cancer Trust.
This is a charity that was catapulted into the media spotlight by the sad but courageous case of Stephen Sutton, a blogger who raised more than £4.3m for the charity as he fought colorectal cancer.
Musician Stephen passed away in May but a group of people who knew him from the studio that he rehearsed at in his hometown of Burntwood in Staffordshire have continued to promote his work.
They have formed the band Neon Brotherhood – named after the Neon Sound studio – and they will perform their single Hope Ain’t A Bad Thing to open T-Live on Saturday at 4.30pm.
T-Live will also support individual local charities on the two days of the event. The official charity for Friday is Severn Hospice, which gives specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire and north Powys who are living with an incurable illness.
The official charity for Saturday is the Georgia Williams Trust. This was set up last year in memory of Wellington teenager Georgia Williams with the aim of raising money to enable young people to participate in life-building activities and contribute to the local community.
The Trust has already raised more than £60,000. Georgia was killed in May last year by Jamie Reynolds, who was jailed for life after admitting her murder.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet lead for T-Live, said: “I am delighted that T-Live is going to support three extremely worthwhile causes and I know that our wonderful Telford audience will give extremely generously.
“It should be a fantastic event and I look forward to meeting the representatives of the three charities during the event.”
T-Live is a two-day event this year, sponsored by Telford Shopping Centre. Rick Astley, ABC, Go West and Jaki Graham will be getting the weekend started at an 80s party night hosted by Free Radio’s Tom Newitt on Friday 29 August.
Nelly from Free Radio’s breakfast show will be hosting Saturday with headliners Lawson and their special guests Union J, Mike Dignam and Harvey.
Tickets for both nights are on sale and can be booked by calling the box office on 01952 382382 or online at www.t-live.co.uk
T-Live tickets can also be bought in person at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place box office, leisure centres, Telford Ice Rink, Telford Shopping Centre, Southwater One and the Town Park Visitor Centre.
