Serious Sexual Assault on Shrewsbury woman after night out
West Mercia Police are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted in Shrewsbury in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 4am on Sunday 7 September, when the 24 year old victim, was walking home from a night out in Shrewsbury Town Centre.
As she was walking over the English Bridge in the direction of the Town Centre, she realised she was being followed by a man she had spoken to earlier in the evening. She then turned right onto the river footpath and started walking down the steps when the man then attacked her. It is believed that the man left the area on foot.
He is described as a white male with dark hair aged in his 20’s. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark short sleeved t-shirt. It is also believed that the man has a sleeve-type tattoo on his right arm.
Detective Inspector Steve Tonks said:
“This was a very serious attack by a stranger, and understandably very distressing to the victim. We are pursuing all lines of enquiry and would urge anyone who may have seen a man matching this description in the area of Wyle Cop or the English Bridge at the time, to contact police urgently quoting incident number 176 of 7th September.”
