The CCTV images show the man who police wish to speak to entering a bar in Shrewsbury.

The incident occurred shortly after 4am in the early hours of Sunday 7 September when the victim, aged 24, was walking along English Bridge returning from the Abbey Foregate area.

The woman realised she was being followed by a man she had spoken to earlier in the evening. She turned right onto the river footpath and started walking down the steps when the man attacked her. It is believed the man then left the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark hair aged in his 20’s. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark short sleeved t-shirt. It is also believed that the man has a sleeve-type tattoo on his right arm.

Detective Constable Sue Jones said:

“We would urge anyone who recognises this man to contact police, to assist with our enquiries. This was very distressing attack and one which we are taking very seriously. We would urge anyone with information to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 176 of 7th September.”
