Woman rescued from River Severn on outskirts of Shrewsbury

A woman was today rescued by emergency services from the River Severn near one of the A49 Sundorne link road bridges.

Five fire appliances including the water rescue unit were mobilised from Shrewsbury and Wellington following a call reporting the incident just before 12.15pm.

The woman was assisted from the River Severn by fire service personnel.

West Midlands Ambulance service and police officers also attended the scene.
