St Mary’s Place in Shrewsbury was closed today after masonry fell from St Mary’s Church overnight.
A stone pinnacle weighing more than half a tonne fell from the south east corner of the church into the churchyard below.
It’s though that heavy rain and blustery winds during the night caused the large section of masonry to fall.
St Mary’s place had been closed whilst an inspection was carried out.
