Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was robbed and assaulted in Oakengates on Friday 10 October.

Teenager robbed and assaulted in Oakengates

At around 4pm the victim, a 17-year-old boy from Telford, was robbed on Church Parade. The victim was approached by an unknown man as he turned down an alley way off Church Parade. The man was verbally abusive with him before assaulting him and stealing his white iPhone 5S.

Before the assault, the victim saw the suspect in the front seat of a Blue Ford Mondao along with two other men. The car had three black alloys with one missing.

The suspect is described as white, of slim build, around 6 feet in height, with short dark hair and clean shaven. He also had a distinctive tattoo with the word “love” on his right arm. He is thought to be around 18-20 years old and at the time of the assault was wearing a full grey converse track suit with his hood up.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the assault or recognises the suspect, or the car, from the above description.

PC Sanders said, “This was an unprovoked assault on a teenager in a public place. Luckily the victim noticed the car that the suspect was driving before he was assaulted, if anyone recognises the car from this description or the man involved we would be very keen to hear from them.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 328 of the 10th October. Alternatively, information can also be passed on anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
