Police are appealing for witnesses and providing advice to residents after a spate of car key burglaries in Shrewsbury.

Police investigate spate of car key burglaries in Bayston hill

Four burglaries occurred between 1am and 3am on Sunday 30 November in the Bayston Hill area, when high performance vehicles were stolen from properties.

A grey BMW Z4, a red Audi A3 Sportback and a black Audi A3 were stolen from properties on Overdale Road, Glebe Road and Lythwood Road. There was also an attempted burglary on Glebe Road, where no car or keys were obtained. All of the vehicles stolen were parked on driveways in full view.

On Overdale Road, the offenders gained entry to the property through an insecure door and have then stolen car keys on show, as well as a mobile phone and wallet. On Glebe Road, the property was entered by force with car keys being stolen which were on show in the hallway. There was also forced entry to the property on Lythwood Road, where car keys along with an iPod Nano, a Nikon camera, a Karen Miller watch and Pandora jewellery were stolen.

Police are urging residents to ensure all of their doors and windows are secured and locked before going to bed at night, and to make sure that all car keys and other valuables are not left on show.

Residents are also encouraged, where possible, to not leave high performances vehicles on driveways and to keep them in a secure garage overnight instead.

Police are eager to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Bayston Hill area of Shrewsbury between 1am and 3am to get in touch. To give information, call 101 quoting incident numbers 236S, 224S, 225S or 389S of Sunday 30 November.

Information can also be given to Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
