An elderly woman has been robbed after withdrawing her pension from a post office in Shifnal on Monday.

Elderly woman robbed of cash in Shifnal town centre

The woman withdrew the cash whilst in town with her son and great grandson at around 11am and put the money into her hand bag.

After this, they went into Katrina’s Card Shop when she was approached by an unknown woman. A second unknown woman then approached her son and asked for his assistance in selecting a card.

On returning home, the victim discovered that the money from her bag and her debit card had been taken, she then phoned the bank who confirmed that a further £400 had been withdrawn from her bank account. It is believed that the two women in the card shop could be involved in the theft.

The suspects have been described as white, with one being around 5’5" and of a medium build. They are both thought to be of European origin with a tanned/heavily made up complexion. Both the woman had dark/black hair, one was wearing dark clothing the other a blue quilted jacket.

Anyone who saw either of the women at the time of the incident or knows anything which could help with our enquiries is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 217 of 29 December.

Information can also be given anonymously to the Independent Charity, Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting their website: www.crimestoppers-uk.org
