A49 south of Shrewsbury closed as wind brings down tree
The A49 south of Shrewsbury is closed today after high winds brought down a large tree overnight.
The A49 is closed between Dobbies Island and the A489 junction in Wistanstow.
A diversion operation is in place via the A458 through Much Wenlock and the B4368 which rejoins the A49 at Craven Arms.
Southbound traffic is being diverted via the 'Yellow Circle' symbol signed diversion. A northbound diversion is via the 'Black Triangle' symbol signed diversion, following the opposite route above.
A fallen tree has also closed the A4380 between Attingham and Emstrey Island.
In Shrewsbury town centre a fallen tree is partially blocking Barker Street near the Claremont Street junction.
UPDATE: The A49 has now re-opened.
