Dunne votes for Severn Valley Railway in Countryfile Awards
Bridgnorth’s MP Philip Dunne is encouraging local residents to vote for Severn Valley Railway in the Countryfile Awards 2015.

Severn Valley Railway has made the shortlist as one of the UK’s top historic attractions by the BBC’s Countryfile magazine.
Mr Dunne said: “I am delighted Severn Valley Railway have been rightly recognised as one of the top historic heritage attractions in the UK. It is a local asset we are very proud to have in Shropshire, encouraging many thousands of visitors to the area each year.
Severn Valley Railway do excellent work preserving this heritage railway which runs trains between Bridgnorth and Bewdley, as well as training young people in the skills needed to maintain heritage railways in the future through apprenticeships.
I hope local residents will join me in voting for Severn Valley Railway to win BBC Countryfile’s Heritage Site of the Year 2014/15.”
The BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2014/15 cover 12 categories, nominated by experts in their field, including Beach of the Year, Landmark of the Year, Rural Pub of the Year and Greatest National Park. The Heritage Site of the Year shortlist was chosen by television presenter Jules Hudson, widely recognised as the face of many BBC lifestyle and history series including Escape to the Country, Britain’s Empty Homes, Britain’s Heritage Heroes and, most latterly, Countryfile.
Severn Valley Railway are up against the Imperial War Museum, Kew Palace, Avebury stone circle, and Portmeirion in Wales.
Voting closes on January 31st, with winners announced in the April edition of the Countryfile magazine. To cast your vote, please visit www.countryfile.com/awards2014-15.
