Warning issued as snow begins to fall across Shropshire
A ‘Yellow Alert’ weather warning for snow is currently valid across the Shropshire area.

The warning came into force at 4pm this afternoon and is valid through until noon tomorrow.
The Met Office says outbreaks of sleet or snow are expected to fall across Shropshire this evening and overnight, persisting into tomorrow morning.
Accumulations of 2-5 cm are likely in places, perhaps with 10 cm very locally on high ground.
The snow should ease gradually through Wednesday morning.
With freezing temperatures and snow fall forecast, West Midlands Ambulance Service is urging the public to take some simple precautions to stay safe.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “There are simple steps that the public can take to help them stay safe during this wintery weather. If you do have to go out make sure you wrap up warm and wear sensible footwear, helping to avoid slips, trips and falls.
“If the weather does take a turn for the worse, please avoid or delay any unnecessary journeys. If you really need to travel by road, make sure you allow extra time for your journey and be extra vigilant on icy and snow covered roads, ensuring you fully clear your car windows before travelling.”
Shropshire Council will be operating its snowline tomorrow morning – parents will be able to call 01743 252980 from 7am to find out if their child’s school is open.
Information on Shropshire school closures will also be available on the Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council websites.
Information about other Shropshire Council services affected by the weather will be published at www.Shropshire.gov.uk/service-closures or http://www.telford.gov.uk/info/20047/winter_service for Telford & Wrekin Council.
Temperatures are set to get milder from Friday as new Atlantic fronts move in, with temperatures lifting to 7C by late afternoon.
It will be changeable next week, becoming windy with a risk of gales.
