Police this morning conducted a drugs warrant in Telford, seizing around 230 cannabis plants from a property in the Trench area.

Cannabis plants worth thousands seized during Telford raid

Officers from the Newport and Donnington Safer Neighbourhood Teams located what is believed to be a large amount of cannabis. Each plant being able to produce around £800 to £1000 worth of cannabis.

Officers conducted the warrant at 9am today, after members of the local community had expressed their concerns about suspicious activity at the premises.

PC Nikki Scott, of the Donnington Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

"We would like to thank residents of Donnington and Trench for their support in tackling the fight against drugs which brings so much harm, not only to our town, but to communities across the force area.

"We would like to reassure the residents of Trench and the surrounding area that your local police will continue to act on the information we are given to help keep our communities safe.

"No arrests have yet been made in connection with the warrant. The property was unoccupied at the time and is thought to have been for sometime. Inquiries continue to help bring those responsible to justice."

On Tuesday, around 200 plants were seized when police officers carried out a drugs warrant on two properties in Newport.

Anyone with information which can help police with their inquiries, or on the sale or production of drugs, is asked to call police on 101.

Information can also be given to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
